AceShowbiz - O Horizon has been acquired by Electric Entertainment, which secured the worldwide distribution rights to the upcoming feature film. The company plans to present international sales for the film at the forthcoming Cannes Market.
The movie features a strong cast led by Maria Bakalova (The Apprentice) and David Strathairn (Good Night, and Good Luck). They are supported by notable actors including Adam Pally (Iron Man 3), Maggie Grace (Taken), Avi Nash (The Walking Dead), and Paulina Porizkova (Thursday). In the United States, the film will be released by Variance on June 12.
The story of O Horizon centers on a young neuroscientist, played by Bakalova, who is balancing a thrilling new romance and a major career breakthrough while coping with the recent death of her father, portrayed by Strathairn. The plot takes a compelling turn when a novel technology enables her to communicate with her deceased father, dramatically altering her life.
Written and directed by Madeleine Rotzler (Dangerous Acts), the film's distribution deal was negotiated by Ben Kim, Head of Development and Acquisitions at Electric Entertainment, and Addie Booth, Manager of Acquisitions. The negotiations also involved Robert Benun and Mark Gill, representing the film.
Dean Devlin, CEO of Electric Entertainment, praised O Horizon as “incredibly relatable and superbly performed,” highlighting the film’s effective blend of humor and drama. He expressed confidence that audiences will resonate with the film’s themes of embracing future technology and dealing with life after loss.
This acquisition positions Electric Entertainment to introduce a poignant and thought-provoking story to global audiences, supported by a talented ensemble and a visionary director. The film’s international sales launch at Cannes will mark a key step in its global distribution journey.
