AceShowbiz - Max B and French Montana have reached the pinnacle of Billboard's Rhythmic Airplay chart as their collaborative track "Ever Since U Left Me" climbs from No. 4 to claim the No. 1 spot on the chart dated March 28. The single, released under French Montana's Coke Boys label, became the most-played song across rhythmic radio stations in the United States for the tracking week of March 13-19, according to data from Luminate.
For its first week at the summit, "Ever Since U Left Me" experienced a 12% increase in plays compared to the previous week ending March 12. This surge dethroned Lil Uzi Vert’s "What You Saying," which dropped to No. 3 after a 7% decline in plays. Meanwhile, Kehlani’s "Out the Window" climbed from No. 5 to No. 2, fueled by a 13% rise in airplay.
The track extends a legacy by sampling a classic hit: KC and the Sunshine Band’s "That's the Way (I Like It)," a song that topped the Billboard Hot 100 for two weeks and the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart for one week back in 1975. This connection bridges generations of music influence within the current rhythmic scene.
With this achievement, Max B secures his first No. 1 on the Rhythmic Airplay chart with only his second career entry. His previous appearance was as a guest on French Montana’s "A Lie," which peaked at No. 34 in October 2017. "Ever Since U Left Me" is among Max B's first releases following his November 9, 2025 release from prison. Originally sentenced to 75 years in 2009 related to a fatal robbery in New Jersey, his sentence was significantly reduced in 2016 after a plea deal.
For French Montana, this marks his third No. 1 on the Rhythmic Airplay chart. He previously reached the top as a featured artist on Chris Brown’s "Loyal," which led for two weeks in May 2014, and with his own hit "Unforgettable," featuring Swae Lee, which topped the chart for one week in July 2017.
Beyond Rhythmic Airplay, "Ever Since U Left Me" also climbed the Rap Airplay chart, moving from No. 7 to No. 6 with an 18% audience increase, earning the distinction of Greatest Gainer for the largest audience growth that week. On the R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart, the song rose from No. 25 to No. 18, accumulating five million audience impressions—a 24% increase compared to the previous week.
This rise highlights the growing impact of the collaboration between Max B and French Montana, signaling a strong comeback for Max B and reinforcing French Montana's continued influence on rhythmic radio.
