AceShowbiz - The popular game show Jeopardy! is expanding with a fresh sports-themed version titled ESPN Jeopardy!, produced through a collaboration between Sony Pictures Television and ESPN. The series will stream on Disney+ and Hulu, with a premiere date yet to be announced.
The show will be hosted by Joe Buck, known for his role as the Monday Night Football announcer. Joe Buck has a prior connection to Jeopardy!, having served as one of the guest hosts in 2021 after Alex Trebek’s passing.
ESPN Jeopardy! will feature contestants from the sports network’s own talent pool, competing in a tournament format. Each participant will play to win money for their chosen charities. The questions and answers will span the full range of ESPN’s sports content, offering a unique twist on the classic quiz format.
The grand prize for the tournament will be $500,000, and details regarding the contestants will be revealed at a later date. This new installment adds to the expanding Jeopardy! franchise, which already includes ABC’s Celebrity Jeopardy!, the Colin Jost-hosted Pop Culture Jeopardy! moving from Prime Video to Netflix, and a YouTube version that has recently launched.
Since joining ESPN in 2022, Joe Buck has taken on the Monday Night Football booth alongside Troy Aikman and sideline reporter Lisa Salters, marking a significant shift from his long tenure at Fox Sports.
This collaboration between Sony Pictures Television and ESPN aims to leverage the popularity of both brands, combining the classic trivia format of Jeopardy! with the extensive sports knowledge and personalities of ESPN.
