AceShowbiz - Demi Moore has been cast in a leading role in the upcoming feature film Tyrant, directed by David Weil, creator of the Amazon Prime series Hunters. This marks Weil’s first foray into feature films, with Tyrant described as a high-stakes thriller set within New York City's elite fine dining world.
Amazon MGM Studios is producing the film, which also stars Charlize Theron and Julia Garner. While plot details remain under wraps, the story centers on the intense and competitive atmosphere of New York’s top culinary scene, promising a gripping narrative full of suspense and intrigue.
Demi Moore is widely known for her roles in iconic films such as Ghost, A Few Good Men, Indecent Proposal, and G.I. Jane. More recently, she earned an Academy Award nomination for her performance in The Substance. Moore is also featured in Boots Riley’s I Love Boosters, which premiered at the SXSW Festival, and appears on the Paramount+ series Landman.
David Weil, who wrote the screenplay for Tyrant based on a story he co-developed with Cody Behan, is also producing the film alongside Natalie Laine Williams. The Picture Company’s Alex Heineman and Andrew Rona are producing, together with Theron and her Secret Menu partners Beth Kono and A.J. Dix. Stan Wlodkowski will serve as executive producer.
Weil’s previous notable work includes the seven-part sci-fi anthology series Solo, featuring single-actor episodes starring the likes of Helen Mirren, Morgan Freeman, Anne Hathaway, Uzo Aduba, and Anthony Mackie. He is also known for defending Hunters after its controversial portrayal of the Holocaust drew criticism from the Auschwitz Memorial.
Production for Tyrant is scheduled to begin in Los Angeles in late April or early May. Demi Moore is represented by CAA and Untitled Entertainment, and her involvement in this project further highlights her continuing prominence in both film and television.
