AceShowbiz - The woman accused of supplying the ketamine involved in the death of Matthew Perry will serve 15 years behind bars. Jasveen Sangha was sentenced on Wednesday after pleading guilty to operating a drug house and distributing ketamine, including the batch linked to the Friends actor's fatal overdose.
Sangha, 42, admitted to charges of maintaining a drug-involved premises and multiple counts of drug distribution. Prosecutors revealed that she sold ketamine to Erik Fleming, an associate of Perry, who then passed the drugs to Kenneth Iwamasa, Perry's live-in assistant.
Authorities reported that Iwamasa injected Perry with ketamine on October 28, 2023. The actor, aged 54, was found later that day at his Los Angeles residence. The incident led to widespread media attention and a federal investigation.
Following the sentencing, Perry's stepfather, Keith Morrison, expressed his feelings about the outcome, stating, "If you don't feel some sense of shame or sorrow, you're not even human." He was accompanied by Perry's mother, Suzanne Morrison, as they left the courthouse.
Court documents indicate that Sangha and Fleming sold 51 vials of ketamine to Perry earlier in October 2023. After the actor’s death became public, prosecutors said Sangha attempted to destroy evidence. Investigators revealed she contacted Fleming via the Signal app to strategize how to distance themselves from the case and instructed him to delete all their messages.
In addition to Sangha, four other individuals have pleaded guilty in connection with the case, including Erik Fleming, Kenneth Iwamasa, and two medical doctors involved in the chain of events leading to Perry's overdose.
