AceShowbiz - Lizzo recently shared an intriguing glimpse into her past experiences with direct messages (DMs) from high-profile celebrities and rappers. According to her, numerous well-known men in the music industry reached out to her over the years, but she initially interpreted these messages as purely friendly gestures rather than flirtatious advances.
In a candid conversation, Lizzo reflected on how her perception of attention from men was shaped by her upbringing. She explained that growing up in Detroit, being a larger woman made her feel invisible to guys, as societal standards in her environment equated fat with unattractiveness. She emphasized, however, that this belief is not true, saying, "Fat doesn't equal ugly." This background influenced how she viewed the messages she received from famous men.
Lizzo stated, "I've gotten some slides to say hi, but like slide slides: all of 'em," referencing the influx of direct messages she received from the biggest names in hip-hop. Despite the frequency, she admitted that she did not initially recognize the true intent behind these DMs. Instead, she often mistook them for casual, professional greetings. It was only through friends that she learned some of these messages were more flirtatious than friendly.
She described her early obliviousness to romantic or sexual signals, saying she was surprised when others pointed out the intentions behind the messages. "I don't even know what this person's intention is. I thought it was all friendly, lowkey," she said, highlighting how even now she sometimes struggles to interpret such interactions.
