AceShowbiz - A gripping new teaser trailer has been unveiled for the upcoming Apple TV+ limited series remake of Cape Fear, featuring a stellar cast including Amy Adams, Javier Bardem, and Patrick Wilson.
This psychological thriller is executive produced by legendary filmmakers Martin Scorsese—who directed the acclaimed 1991 film version of Cape Fear—and Steven Spielberg, who also produced that adaptation. The series promises a fresh yet intense take on the classic story.
The official synopsis reveals the central conflict: "A storm is coming for happily married attorneys Anna (Adams) and Tom Bowden (Wilson) when Max Cady (Bardem), the notorious killer they are responsible for putting behind bars, is let out of prison—and he wants vengeance."
Cape Fear has a rich creative history, originating from John D. MacDonald's 1957 novel The Executioners. The tale was first adapted into a 1962 film starring Gregory Peck and Robert Mitchum. Later, Martin Scorsese helmed the 1991 remake featuring Nick Nolte, Jessica Lange, and Robert De Niro. This new series is produced by UCP, part of Universal Studio Group, in collaboration with Amblin Television.
The limited series is spearheaded by showrunner Nick Antosca, known for works like Antlers and Channel Zero. He collaborates with producers Alex Hedlund, Darryl Frank, and Justin Falvey from Amblin Television. The pilot episode is directed by Morten Tyldum, who also serves as an executive producer.
Alongside the main cast, Cape Fear features performances by Joe Anders, Lily Collias, Malia Pyles, and CCH Pounder. The series will consist of 10 episodes, with the first two slated to premiere on Friday, June 5.
The trailer itself stands out amid many formulaic previews, offering a masterfully crafted glimpse into the suspenseful atmosphere and emotional intensity viewers can expect from this highly anticipated adaptation.
