AceShowbiz - Future could face jail time after his ex-girlfriend, Brittni Mealy, filed court documents accusing him of violating a custody agreement by not obtaining a $500,000 life insurance policy.

The Atlanta rapper is under legal pressure because he allegedly failed to secure the insurance policy naming Mealy as trustee for their 12-year-old son, Prince. Mealy’s petition claims that Future has willfully ignored a 2023 court order requiring the policy.

According to TMZ, Mealy is asking the judge to hold Future in contempt of court and potentially jail him until he complies with the insurance mandate. The policy is intended to safeguard Prince’s financial future in the event something happens to Future.

This insurance requirement is a common provision in high-profile custody agreements, but Mealy alleges that Future has neglected this responsibility for years. She is now seeking sanctions and incarceration as leverage to force compliance.

Previously, Mealy scored a legal victory when the court increased Future’s monthly child support payments from $3,000 to $5,000. The judge also clearly instructed Future to secure the life insurance policy, but according to Mealy’s filings, he has delayed taking action.

This latest petition adds to a history of disputes between the former couple. Mealy has accused Future of missing scheduled parenting time with Prince and failing to maintain dental insurance coverage as ordered by the court.

Future has defended himself by citing his demanding touring schedule, which he claims makes it difficult to adhere to a strict parenting plan. However, courts have consistently ruled in favor of Mealy regarding financial and custodial obligations.
