AceShowbiz - 50 Cent is currently involved in a legal battle with his former partner, Shaniqua Tompkins, and is requesting that a judge keep certain parts of her court filings confidential. The rapper claims these documents contain damaging and unrelated allegations that could severely harm his personal and professional reputation if made public.
In recent court filings, 50 Cent argues that Tompkins has made "inflammatory and defamatory allegations" that do not pertain to the core contract dispute. He warns that allowing such statements to become part of the public record would cause "immediate, severe, and irreversible" damage to his reputation.
The legal conflict began when G-Unit Books filed a lawsuit against Tompkins last year, accusing her of violating a 2007 agreement that gave the company exclusive rights to her life story. The publisher is demanding at least $1 million in damages, citing Tompkins' breach by sharing videos online that reference her past relationship with 50 Cent.
Tompkins disputes the enforceability of the contract. In an affidavit submitted earlier this year, she claimed she only signed the agreement under duress, fearing for her life and the safety of her children. She recounted an incident where Chris Lighty, 50 Cent's manager at the time, allegedly visited her Las Vegas hotel room accompanied by another man after she repeatedly refused to sign the document.
Recently, a judge denied G-Unit Books’ motion for a default judgment against Tompkins and granted her additional time to respond to the lawsuit. The case continues to unfold as both parties prepare for further legal proceedings.
