AceShowbiz - Chris Pratt recently opened up about a unique parenting choice he and wife Katherine Schwarzenegger have made regarding their children and movies. Despite his long and successful career in film, none of their three young kids—Lyla, 5, Eloise, 3, and Ford, 16 months—have ever seen a movie, including his own.
On his March 17 appearance on Today with Craig Melvin, Chris Pratt explained, "My 5-year-old, my 3-year-old and my 1-year-old have never seen movies." He attributed this decision largely to Katherine's "very old-school" approach to screens and technology. "So, we're waiting," he added, emphasizing that the children’s exposure to movies and screen time is being carefully managed.
Despite this, Chris Pratt looks forward to the day when his younger children get to watch his films. He teased, "There's gonna be a season, they're gonna realize their dad is really cool. They haven't realized it yet, but one day."
The actor’s career boasts many family-friendly, PG-rated titles like The Lego Movie, Onward, and The Garfield Movie. He shared that his oldest son Jack has already seen some of his projects and appreciates them. "My 13-year-old, I took him to a screening of the first movie," Chris Pratt said, referring to The Super Mario Bros. Movie. "He thinks it's pretty cool."
While the younger children remain unaware of their dad’s Hollywood career, Chris Pratt joked, "Jack likes me, though," highlighting the strong bond he shares with his eldest son.
Parenting philosophy has been a key topic for Chris Pratt and Katherine Schwarzenegger since their marriage in 2019. In fact, the couple engaged in extensive conversations about their values and beliefs before tying the knot. The Guardians of the Galaxy star revealed on SiriusXM’s Literally! With Rob Lowe podcast last month that they participated in premarital counseling as part of their wedding preparations at St. Monica’s Church.
"We did like six sessions with this guy who was, by the way, the best thing in the world," Chris Pratt recalled. He explained the value of these sessions: "They ask you questions you would not even think to answer until you have been married for eight years." These conversations helped the couple negotiate potential conflicts and understand each other's perspectives before issues arose.
As a result, they developed a comprehensive list of guidelines for their marriage. "It's like 300 potential landmines and you diffuse them beforehand," he said. This proactive approach allows them to address disagreements and work through problems methodically, strengthening their relationship and parenting partnership.
