AceShowbiz - Counting On has been taken off multiple streaming services following the arrest of Joseph Duggar on serious charges related to child molestation. The show, which originally aired from 2015 to 2020 on TLC, is no longer accessible on HBO Max as of Friday, March 27. Reports from The US Sun also confirm the series has been removed from Discovery+ in the United States.
Despite these removals, some viewers in Canada and the United Kingdom have reported that Counting On remains available for streaming there. Warner Bros. Discovery has been contacted for an official statement but has not yet responded.
Counting On was created as a spin-off of the controversial series 19 Kids and Counting, which was canceled in 2015 amid scandal involving Joseph’s brother, Josh Duggar. Josh was accused of molesting five underage girls, four of whom were his sisters, during his teenage years. In 2021, Josh was arrested on charges of receiving and possessing child pornography. He was found guilty and sentenced to 12.5 years in prison in 2022. Several appeals filed by Josh have all been denied.
The series centered on the lives of Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar’s older children as they embarked on their own family journeys. Numerous family members appeared on the show, including Jana, John-David, Jill, Jessa, Jinger, Joseph, Josiah, Joy-Anna, Jedidiah, Jeremiah, Jason, James, Justin, Jackson, Johannah, Jennifer, Jordyn-Grace, and Josie.
Joseph Duggar and his wife, Kendra Duggar, were prominently featured on the series, documenting their courtship and early marriage. During the sixth season, Joseph asked Kendra’s father, Pastor Paul Caldwell, for permission to propose. The couple wed one month before that episode aired in October 2017. They have four children together: Garrett, Addison, Brooklyn, and Justus.
The removal of Counting On from streaming platforms follows Joseph Duggar’s arrest in Arkansas on charges of lewd and lascivious behavior involving molestation of a victim under 12 years old, as well as other lewd acts conducted by someone 18 or older. The alleged victim, now 14, claimed she endured multiple instances of sexual abuse by Joseph when she was only nine years old.
According to the victim, the inappropriate incidents occurred during a family vacation in Panama City Beach, Florida, in 2020. She said Joseph repeatedly asked her to sit on his lap and on the couch beside him. The victim also alleged that he covered them both with a blanket and touched her inappropriately. She reported that Joseph later apologized for his actions and that the abuse stopped following his apology.
Joseph Duggar was arrested after the victim’s father confronted him by phone, during which law enforcement officials were present on the call. During this conversation, Joseph allegedly admitted to the misconduct. He appeared virtually in court the day following his arrest but did not enter a plea. He waived his right to an extradition hearing and is currently awaiting extradition from Arkansas to Florida.
Shortly after Joseph’s arrest, his wife, Kendra Duggar, was also taken into custody. Both were charged with four counts of endangering the welfare of a minor in the second degree and four counts of second-degree false imprisonment. Kendra was released after posting a $1,470 bond. A family spokesperson clarified that Kendra’s misdemeanor charges are unrelated to the Florida case involving Joseph.
Joseph Duggar previously spoke out after his brother Josh Duggar admitted to sexually abusing five girls, including relatives, but did not face public allegations himself until this recent arrest.
