AceShowbiz - The Willie Nelson Outlaw Music Festival is set to return for the summer of 2026, bringing a lineup of acclaimed artists to amphitheaters across the United States. Although this year’s tour is shorter than previous years, it still promises memorable performances with a mix of iconic and emerging musicians.
The tour will begin on July 3 at the Pavilion at Toyota Music Factory in Irving, Texas, and conclude on August 30 at the Albany Med Health System at SPAC in Saratoga Springs, New York. In total, there will be 12 shows scheduled, a significant reduction compared to 26 concerts in 2024 and 36 in 2025.
Willie Nelson will be the only artist performing at every date on the tour. Reflecting on the limited number of shows, he said, "Being on the road and playing for the fans is what I love to do. We don't get to do as many shows as we used to, so every night out there means a little more. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone and making it a special time."
This year’s lineup features a variety of celebrated artists joining Nelson at different stops. These include the Avett Brothers, Wilco, Sheryl Crow, Stephen Wilson Jr., Lukas Nelson, Margo Price, Robert Randolph, and Don Was and the Pan-Detroit Ensemble.
Notably absent from this year’s festival is Bob Dylan, who had been a full participant in both the 2024 and 2025 editions. While Dylan will not join the Outlaw Music Festival in 2026, he is planning his own summer amphitheater tour with stops in Woodinville, Washington; Thackerville, Oklahoma; and Vienna, Virginia. The reasons for Dylan’s absence remain unclear, but his recent use of a hoodie, lights, mirrors, and a music stand to obscure his face from audiences—presumably to prevent filming—may make the smaller, more controlled settings of his own shows preferable over a larger festival environment.
Willie Nelson, at 92 years old, has slowed his touring pace in recent years but remains active. Before the Outlaw Festival kicks off, he will embark on a pre-tour mini-run starting April 22 in Birmingham, Alabama, and ending May 2 in New Braunfels, Texas. Earlier this year, Nelson also performed at the Luck Reunion events held at his Luck Ranch in Spicewood, Texas.
In addition to touring, Nelson is preparing to release his latest solo album, Dream Chaser, on May 29. The album features the track "I Can’t Read Your Mind," co-written with producer Buddy Cannon and Bob Dylan.
The 2026 Outlaw Music Festival offers fans a rare chance to experience a living legend alongside a diverse and powerful lineup of artists. With fewer shows scheduled, each concert will carry added significance, providing an intimate and memorable celebration of country, rock, and Americana music.
