AceShowbiz - The Housemaid sequel is set to feature Kirsten Dunst alongside returning star Sydney Sweeney. The follow-up film, titled The Housemaid's Secret, continues the story from Lionsgate’s 2025 hit, which grossed nearly $400 million worldwide.
The new installment adapts Freida McFadden’s second novel in her Housemaid series. It centers on Millie Calloway, who begins working as a housemaid for another wealthy couple, cleaning their penthouse in the city. Suspicion quickly arises when Millie is forbidden from meeting her employer, Mrs. Garrick, prompting her to question the husband and uncover hidden secrets.
Paul Feig returns to direct the sequel, with Rebecca Sonnenshine reprising her role as screenwriter. In addition to Sydney Sweeney, Michele Morrone will also return as Enzo, continuing his role from the original film.
The production team includes Paul Feig and Laura Fischer as producers, along with Todd Lieberman from Hidden Pictures and Sydney Sweeney through her Fifty-Fifty Films banner. Hidden Pictures’ Carly Elter and Alex Young will serve as executive producers, while Fifty Fifty’s Kaylee McGregor will co-produce. On the studio side, Chelsea Kujawa and Maria Ascanio are overseeing the project for Lionsgate.
Erin Westerman, president of Lionsgate Motion Picture Group, expressed enthusiasm about the casting: "It is a privilege to bring The Housemaid’s next chapter to the screen with Kirsten Dunst. She is an icon with extraordinary range and fearlessness. Opposite the ever-magnetic Sydney Sweeney, she will be an electrifying force in a world where nothing is ever quite as it seems."
Kirsten Dunst, represented by UTA, Entertainment 360, and Hansen Jacobson, was most recently featured in the Paramount dramedy The Roofman. She is also slated to appear in the sequel to A Minecraft Movie and Ruben Östlund’s upcoming film The Entertainment System Is Down.
