AceShowbiz - Paris Jackson recently addressed her current relationship with actor Colman Domingo following their public disagreement about the upcoming biopic Michael, which focuses on her late father, Michael Jackson.
The tension between the singer and the actor began when Paris Jackson criticized Domingo for comments he made regarding her involvement in the film. The dispute centered on remarks Domingo made in an interview with People magazine, where he suggested that Paris and her brother Prince had been cooperative during the production process. Paris took to Instagram in September to clarify that she had no participation in the making of the film and described the script as containing inaccuracies she had previously pointed out.
At Vanity Fair's A Night for Young Hollywood event, held recently in Los Angeles, Paris told Entertainment Tonight (ET) that Domingo reached out to her via social media to mend fences. She expressed appreciation for his gesture, remarking, "I really appreciated the sentiment of it, because there's lots of miscommunications, and things get twisted."
The initial controversy arose when Domingo, who portrays Joe Jackson, Michael's father, in the biopic, was quoted as saying the Jackson siblings were helpful during filming. Paris Jackson refuted this, stating she only read an early draft of the script and provided feedback on elements she found dishonest or unsettling, but when these concerns weren’t addressed, she disengaged from the project.
In a Wall Street Journal interview published shortly before the film’s release, Colman Domingo clarified that his comments had been misinterpreted. He noted that People magazine later updated their story to better reflect his intended meaning. He also expressed hope that Paris would come to appreciate the biopic as a tribute to her father.
Michael is scheduled to premiere in theaters on April 24. The film stars Jafaar Jackson, Michael Jackson’s nephew, in the titular role. During her conversation with ET, Paris Jackson confirmed she had communicated with Domingo and wished him and her cousin success and happiness with the project.
Reflecting on the legacy the film hopes to convey, Paris emphasized the importance of a message centered on “love and light.”
This public update came just days before the release of Paris Jackson’s new single, "zombies in love," which dropped on March 13 via Republic Records. Co-written with Linda Perry, the track is inspired by a personal story from Paris’s past, specifically about a moment spent "getting high with the love of my life a long time ago, before I got sober," she told ET.
Fans can expect more music from Paris later this year, as she continues to build her career as a singer-songwriter.
In addition to her artistic endeavors, Paris Jackson recently marked six years of sobriety, a milestone she celebrated on Instagram in January. Earlier, in December, she announced her engagement to producer Justin Long, describing their relationship as an "indescribable whirlwind" and expressing how perfect she feels their partnership is for her.
As the premiere of Michael approaches, attention remains on how the biopic will shape public perception of the iconic pop star and how those closest to him, like Paris Jackson, navigate their personal connections to the story being told on screen.
