AceShowbiz - Legal representatives for Smokey Robinson are responding firmly after attorneys for several accusers involved in an ongoing sexual assault lawsuit sought judicial intervention to advance the case.
Christopher Frost, the Motown legend’s attorney, described the recent motions filed by the accusers’ legal team as an attempt to draw public attention to the lawsuit. "We are not surprised that these plaintiffs and their lawyers are trying to get more media attention just after Mr. Robinson has announced new tour dates," Frost stated.
Frost accused the plaintiffs of using the court filings as part of a broader strategy to pressure Robinson into settling. He characterized the allegations as recycled false claims aimed at damaging Robinson’s career and livelihood. "That will not happen," he emphasized.
The legal dispute intensified after John Harris, an attorney representing multiple accusers identified as Jane Does, submitted motions seeking to compel additional discovery. Harris alleges that Robinson and his wife have delayed providing requested information relevant to the case.
Furthermore, Harris criticized Robinson for invoking the Fifth Amendment during questioning and argued that court intervention is necessary to progress the lawsuit.
Robinson has denied all accusations. The lawsuit was initially filed in 2025 by former employees who claim sexual misconduct occurred while they worked in his home. The legal matter remains active and unresolved.
