AceShowbiz - Kid Rock has addressed the controversy surrounding his performance at the Turning Point USA “All-American Halftime Show,” which aired on Super Bowl Sunday. After accusations of lip-synching surfaced, the musician clarified that while his set was pre-recorded, he did not fake his vocals during the broadcast.
In an Instagram video posted on February 10, two days after the event, Kid Rock explained that the confusion stemmed from post-production editing issues. The audio for his high-energy track “Bawitdaba” was not perfectly synced with the video, causing some viewers to believe he was lip-synching.
“If I was ever going to lip-synch, which I wouldn’t, that would be the last song I would ever … do it to,” Kid Rock said, standing alongside his DJ, Paradime, who accompanied him during the performance. “We’ve performed this song every night on tour since 1998.”
The artist acknowledged the complexity of matching the rapid-fire vocals with the visuals, especially for such an intense song. “It’s extremely difficult for them to line up the sync,” he admitted, expressing confidence that a flawless alignment would have been possible with more time for editing. He described the song’s live performance as physically demanding, involving “flipping mics” and “jumping around like a rabid monkey on stage.”
Kid Rock praised both Turning Point USA and their production team for their efforts, while admitting that mistakes happen. “Nobody’s perfect or gets it right every time,” he said. To those criticizing him, he gave a blunt response, flipping off the camera before continuing.
In the video, Kid Rock and Paradime also demonstrated the challenges of performing “Bawitdaba” live. The DJ fills in certain lines to give the singer time to breathe, highlighting the song’s demanding pace. Despite this, Kid Rock maintained that the performance was authentically executed live during the pre-taping of the show.
He attributed the spread of misinformation about his supposed lip-synching to “fake news media” and political opponents. “The problem is people amplify this all over the internet … they did it to Bad Bunny, in his defense,” Kid Rock said, referencing the criticism that fellow Super Bowl performer Benito faced after joking on Saturday Night Live about having “four months to learn” Spanish before his halftime act.
He continued, “They do it far too often, especially in the fake news media, the left-wingers, crazy libt–ds.” Kid Rock’s comments reveal his frustration with the backlash and his firm stance against accusations that he would ever compromise his live performance integrity.
