AceShowbiz - David Tennant, the former "Doctor Who" star, shared his views on the ongoing debate surrounding trans rights and his thoughts on author J.K. Rowling's controversial stance.
The actor, who appeared in the 2005 film adaptation of Rowling's book "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire", has become one of the prominent figures advocating for the trans community in the UK.
In an interview on ITV's show "The Assembly," Tennant expressed his respect for Rowling as an author while also calling for a more inclusive society.
He stated, "JK Rowling is a wonderful author who's created brilliant stories, and I wish her no ill will, but I hope that we can all as a society, just let people be. Just get out of people's way."
The UK Supreme Court backed the "biological" definition of woman. This ruling came after Rowling donated £70,000 to Women Scotland, the group who brought the case forward.
Tennant and Rowling, having polar opposite views on the matter, have frequently made headlines due to their contrasting opinions. Last year, Rowling sent her "thoughts and prayers" for Tennant as they clashed on the transgender issues.
David Tennant was not alone in calling out J.K. Rowling. "Bridgerton" actress Nicola Coughlan denounced the author and the upcoming "Harry Potter" TV series while "The Last of Us" actor Pedro Pascal labelled the writer as a "Heinous LOSER."
