The New York City Office of the Chief Medical Examiner confirmed he actress best known for her roles in "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and "Gossip Girl" passed away due to complications from diabetes.

Born in October 1985, the 39-year-old actress was found unresponsive in her Manhattan apartment on February 26. Paramedics pronounced her dead at the scene.

Her family, observing their Orthodox Jewish faith, requested against an autopsy. Therefore, the Medical Examiner's office relied on laboratory results to conclude that she died from diabetes-related complications.

An insider revealed to NBC News that Trachtenberg had recently undergone a liver transplant although specifics about the procedure remain unclear.

Trachtenberg's career began early, with roles in commercials at the tender age of three. She captivated audiences as Nona Mecklenberg on Nickelodeon's "The Adventures of Pete & Pete" from 1994 to 1996 before shining in film adaptations like "Harriet the Spy" and "Inspector Gadget."
