AceShowbiz - In an appearance on "The Jonathan Ross Show", actor Pierce Brosnan dives deep into the perils and rewards of his cinematic journey, particularly his time portraying the iconic James Bond.
At 71, Brosnan vividly recounts a harrowing experience on a boat set that left him his face bloody and needing stitches. Asked about this ordeal, Brosnan reflects, "It [the boat] goes off the river into a restaurant, drives into a restaurant, wood sliced my face open. So, went off to the hospital, stitched up."
It's not the only injury during Brosnan's tenure as Bond. He previously disclosed a significant mishap while filming "Tomorrow Never Dies," where a stuntman accidentally struck him in the face, leaving a permanent scar just above his lip. This injury required filming from his left side to avoid showing the scar on camera.
Speculation has swirled about Brosnan possibly returning to the 007 franchise in some capacity. He addresses the rumors candidly, "No-one's spoken to me about it. I've heard all of the rumors. Listen, they know where to find me. Let's see where the wind takes us."
Yet, he admits, "It's going to be another man's job. I'm not looking to go there. I'm quite happy with my career. I've done it; it was wonderful."
The actor recalls some of his most memorable moments as Bond, including a thrilling boat ride down the Thames in a bullet boat. "I was in that boat, yes… on a Monday morning said goodbye to the wife and kids, there's an oxygen tank here, there's an oxygen tank there… you're strapped in double, double," he recollects.
He adds an aside on possible futures for the role, noting Aaron Taylor-Johnson's potential, "This young man we cast as 'The Greatest'. He was so impressive then. He just had this charisma, he had this presence… so he would be good."
Brosnan also opens up about his new series, "MobLand," where he stars alongside Dame Helen Mirren and Tom Hardy. The project posed a unique challenge due to accent work.
"I called my dear friend who is a dialect coach and said, 'I need an accent, a Kerry accent.' So I got a Kerry accent. It all came together in 15 minutes," explained Brosnan.
Brosnan also talks about his experience with "Mamma Mia!" movies. Fondly recalling his experience on the Greek isle, he shares, "It was beautiful. It was criminal how much fun we had on that movie. No acting required really. It was one of the most pleasurable times of my career as an actor."
On a final note, Brosnan reveals an amusing anecdote about showing "Mamma Mia!" to superstar Barbra Streisand, "She had me up on the couch beside me. She said, 'Wonderful, darling.' She had a little dog. I tapped her on the knee, and then the dog bit me. Drew blood! So that was my experience showing Streisand [the movie]."
