AceShowbiz - The explosive legal battle between Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni has added another lawsuit, with Baldoni suing his former publicist Stephanie Jones. He accused Jones of leaking private text messages that led to Lively's initial complaint with California Civil Rights Department and subsequent lawsuit.
The chain of events unfolded after Jones allegedly shared communications from Jennifer Abel's seized phone, eventually leading to six lawsuits intertwined with the film's production.
Jones was accused of violating client confidentiality by handing over private messages and emails to Lively's team. Bryan Freedman, Baldoni's attorney stated, "It is undeniable that Stephanie Jones initiated this catastrophic sequence of events by violating the most basic of privacy rights, as well as any remaining trust her clients held."
This breach allegedly provided the New York Times with material that fueled more controversy.
Jones has countered these claims, with her attorney, Kristin Tahler, maintaining, "Ms. Jones' lawsuit is based entirely on facts and concrete evidence," alleging Abel conspired with others to undermine Jonesworks and steal clients.
The feud traces back to December 2024 when Lively sued Baldoni and his associates, accusing them of sexual harassment and defaming her.
As the feud escalated, Abel, previously affiliated with Jonesworks, saw her proprietary information shared and used without her consent. The lawsuit details alleged instances where Abel was strong-armed into signing documents while being physically intimidated in meetings orchestrated by Jonesworks personnel.
Baldoni and Abel, in a countersuit, accused Jones of intentionally fostering drama to destabilize Abel's credibility and by extension, impact Baldoni's work with Wayfarer Studios. The countersuit claims Jones was amidst her own downward spiral and attempted to neutralize Abel's departure by leaking sensitive information to Lively's team.
The ongoing battles encompass defamation suits, with Baldoni demanding a $400 million compensation from Lively and her husband Ryan Reynolds for alleged defamation, and suits pending against major publication The New York Times for libel.
The relentless exchange of lawsuits and counterclaims promises more courtroom drama ahead. As Lively's suit against Baldoni is slated for trial in March 2026, the legal battles involve high stakes, reputations, and significant financial ramifications.
Freedman states, "We will not stop until our clients are cleared of all wrongdoing and compensated for the vast damages that they have incurred."
