AceShowbiz - Actor Armie Hammer reveals his experiences with navigating his sexuality in the latest episode of "Armie HammerTime Podcast". In a revealing discussion, he opened up about his personal journey, including an attempt at hooking up with a man.
The 38-year-old "Call Me by Your Name" star was keenly aware of the challenges and complexities of Hollywood. He shared an incident that led him to question and explore his sexual orientation.
"I tried hooking up with a dude one time," Hammer confessed. The actor elaborated on his motivation, saying that queer people "seem to have it so easy, like, so easy!"
During his experiment, Hammer decided to give the popular dating app Grindr a try. He recalled a particular encounter, "I remember I met this dude, handsome, French, the whole thing, and I was like okay this could work, let's try this." However, the experience did not go as he had hoped.
"I remember I started making out with him and I just remember being like, 'Urgh God beards, like I get it why women like it when you shave. This thing is f***ing rough, how do I get in there?' " he said, adding that the man's physical attributes felt strange to him. "It did physically for me, absolutely nothing. Not even a twitch."
Despite the initial optimism, the interaction became increasingly uncomfortable for Hammer. "I was going through the motions and like not feeling anything," he admitted.
The situation reached a tipping point when the man tried to advance further, prompting Hammer to halt the encounter. " 'Sorry, this is not going to happen. I've got to stop this here,' " he recalled saying.
Hammer's candid discussion comes in the wake of a series of personal and professional challenges. The actor split from his wife Elizabeth Chambers and faced severe backlash and career setbacks following allegations of sexual assault and controversial fantasies, which he has consistently denied.
Although the Los Angeles District Attorney's Office investigated, they ultimately decided there was insufficient evidence to charge him.
The podcast episode also delved into Hammer's reflections on his past relationships and behaviors, where he admitted to demonstrating "a------ behavior" towards former partners. He stressed the importance of personal growth and understanding.
