AceShowbiz - Following the cancellation of "Blue Bloods" in November 2023, CBS has announced a straight-to-series order for a spinoff starring Donnie Wahlberg as Danny Reagan. Tentatively titled "Boston Blue", the show will follow Wahlberg's NYPD detective as he relocates to Boston and joins the Boston PD.
In "Boston Blue," Danny will be paired with Detective Lena Peters, a new character from a prominent law enforcement family in Boston.
Before it was shelved, the original series ran for 14 seasons and focused on the Reagans, a powerful New York police family led by Tom Selleck's NYPD Commissioner Frank Reagan.
The announcement of the "Boston Blue" spinoff sparked questions about the possible involvement of Selleck, who played Danny's father in "Blue Bloods." The actor was devastated by the cancellation of the original series, but his participation in the spinoff has not yet been confirmed.
Plot details for "Boston Blue" are still under wraps, but the series is scheduled to air in the 2025-2026 broadcast season. Meanwhile, the 14 seasons of "Blue Bloods" are currently available for streaming on Paramount+.
