AceShowbiz - Benny Blanco doubles down on his stance against taking daily shower. Dishing on his unique shower rituals, the 36-year-old producer lent some insights into his self-care practices while answering couple questions with his fiancee, Selena Gomez, during a behind-the-scenes TikTok for their Interview magazine cover shoot.
When asked who takes the longest showers, Gomez quickly pointed to Blanco. He accepted her answer, explaining that he spends a considerable amount of time under the hot water for more than just routine cleaning.
"OK, I might not get to shower every day, but when I do, when I feel like I deserve it, I'm in there for so long contemplating life," said Blanco. "I sit down in every shower I go into."
This shower contemplation isn't just about relaxation for Blanco. He uses the time as an emotional outlet, even recommending a good cry. "Have you ever cried in the shower? It's incredible," he shared before asking Gomez, who responded with a laugh. "Sometimes you just have to have a good cry," he added.
But that's not all - Blanco also disclosed another facet of his shower routine: "death realizations." He explained, "I always get death realizations when I'm in the shower."
Gomez seemed startled by the admission. "No, like, I realize I'm gonna die, but it's in the shower," Blanco elucidated, before adding that the warm water helps him process these thoughts and ultimately feel better. After a brief emotional release, Blanco says he moves on with his day feeling rejuvenated.
The discussion with Interview Magazine isn't the first time Blanco has talked about his bathing habits. In PEOPLE's 2024 Sexiest Man Alive issue, he shared, "Don't stink. Do all the stuff."
He also mentioned his stance on hair care, revealing, "I do not believe in always shampooing or conditioning my hair." Blanco emphasized that he's "really clean," despite not showering daily. He argued that frequent bathing can strip the skin of its natural oils.
Regarding his preferred scents, Blanco opts for a mixture. "I want to smell [like] tobacco, but also like cotton candy. I want there to be an aroma as I'm walking by," he explained.
