AceShowbiz - Back in 2015, "Saturday Night Live" creator Lorne Michaels faced a unique challenge: pop superstar Taylor Swift wanted a sketch about her well-known girl squad removed from the show.
The sketch, which jokingly reimagined Swift's posse as an apocalyptic cult, was made following the release of her star-studded "Bad Blood" music video that featured a slew of high-profiled celebrities like Gigi Hadid, Zendaya Coleman, Karlie Kloss, Cara Delevingne, and Selena Gomez.
An article from Vulture reveals that the show reached out to Swift, asking if she would be interested in making a cameo in the sketch. Not only did she decline the cameo, but she also called Michaels directly to request the skit's removal.
Michaels reportedly listened to Swift's concerns while nonchalantly enjoying a piece of popcorn. His response has since gone viral. "Taylor, I do not negotiate with terrorists," he told her before tossing a kernel of popcorn into his mouth.
The sketch went ahead as planned, featuring two segments: one with "SNL" cast members Aidy Bryant and Vanessa Bayer in a post-apocalyptic world ruled by Swift's squad, and another starring Tina Fey and Amy Poehler that depicted a different kind of girl squad.
After the sketch aired, Swift sent Michaels flowers with a note reading, "I hope there's no bad blood."
Indeed, Swift's relationship with "SNL" didn't sour after the incident. She has appeared on the show multiple times since 2009, both as a musical guest and host. Most recently, she introduced her friend Ice Spice as the musical guest on an October 2023 episode.
Additionally, she responded favorably to a 2024 skit featuring Ryan Gosling's playful rendition of her breakup anthem "All Too Well." Swift shared the clip on Instagram, writing, "All Too Well (Ryan and Emily's Version)!!! Watch me accidentally catch myself singing this version on tour. This monologue is everything."
