AceShowbiz - The $2 million Topanga Canyon home, once a charming retreat filled with memories for Joshua Jackson, has been destroyed in the catastrophic wildfires that ignited earlier this week. The "Doctor Odyssey" actor had cherished his early years at this residence before relocating to Canada at the age of eight following his parents' divorce.
In early 2000s, Jackson reacquired the property, recalling in an interview with Mr. Porter Magazine in 2021 that it was a place "where everything felt simple."
However, the once vibrant home is now reduced to ashes, following the ferocity of the Pacific Palisades blaze, which has incinerated approximately 22,660 acres, according to the Los Angeles Times.
The hills surrounding the house are now barren, stripped of their lush greenery and foliage.
Jackson, alongside other prominent residents like Jeff Bridges, Miles Teller, and Paris Hilton, is one of many who have suffered monumental losses due to the wildfires.
Speaking to Mr. Porter in 2021, Jackson reminisced about his attachment to the Topanga Canyon home. The property served as a family home for Jackson and his now-ex-wife, Jodie Turner-Smith, where they raised their four-year-old daughter, Juno. In 2023, Jackson described the home as "very baby-oriented and family-oriented inside."
The fires in Southern California have caused widespread devastation, destroying an estimated 5,300 structures in the Palisades Fire alone, including homes, churches, and schools. The Eaton Fire has ravaged 13,956 acres while new blazes like the Kenneth and Hurst Fires continue to threaten the region. The National Guard has deployed 1,680 troops to aid in the efforts, with the death toll rising to 13.
As the community grapples with these tragic events, criticisms have surged against L.A. Mayor Karen Bass, with personalities like Khloe Kardashian, Sarah Michelle Gellar, and James Woods voicing their displeasure over the handling of the crisis.
