AceShowbiz - Paris Hilton's Malibu home was recently consumed by the raging Los Angeles wildfires. The following day, the 43-year-old businesswoman and reality star took to Instagram, sharing harrowing footage of her destroyed property. Despite her personal loss, she quickly pivoted to focus on helping others affected by the catastrophe.
"💔 My heart is with everyone impacted by the devastating fires here in LA," Hilton began in her Instagram post. She expressed empathy for the "countless families who have lost so much more - their homes, cherished keepsakes, the communities they loved, and their sense of stability."
Determined to make a difference, Hilton announced the launch of an emergency fund through her nonprofit, 11:11 Media Impact. With an initial personal donation of $100,000, she pledged to match additional contributions dollar for dollar, up to another $100,000. "I am looking for others to donate and match alongside me to do our part!" she urged.
The funds raised will go towards providing short-term housing, hotel stays, and essentials for families, especially those with young children, who have been displaced by the fires. Additionally, Hilton emphasized the importance of supporting local animal shelters.
Collaborating with the emergency relief organization CORE and partnering with private female funders mobilized by Amy Marks Dornbusch, Hilton has already pooled $200,000 for immediate relief efforts. Other notable institutions like Baby2Baby have also joined in to distribute much-needed supplies for young children.
Hilton isn't alone in her efforts. Hollywood stars such as Meghan Markle, Prince Harry, Jennifer Garner, Sharon Stone, and the Kardashian family have provided aid through various means, from volunteering to making significant donations.
Garner, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, in particular, has been actively involved in food relief efforts, working with World Central Kitchen to assist evacuees and first responders. The Kardashian family also helped feed firefighters while Kim Kardashian and Halle Berry donated clothes.
With the fires affecting over 100,000 residents, including celebrities like Billy Crystal and Anthony Hopkins, the call for unity is stronger than ever. LiveNation has announced a charity concert, FireAid, set for January 30, promising an evening of music and solidarity to support rebuilding efforts.
While acknowledging her own loss, Hilton's message is clear, "Every dollar makes a difference, and we'll make sure the support reaches those who need it most." As the City of Angels grapples with one of the costliest wildfire events in U.S. history, compassion and community efforts remain vital.
