AceShowbiz - Lynn Ban, renowned jewelry designer and star of "Bling Empire: New York", had a harrowing experience on Christmas Eve that nearly cost her life. While vacationing with her family in Aspen, Ban "faceplanted" after her ski tip caught something on the mountain. Despite wearing a helmet and initially dismissing her headache as minor, Ban's condition quickly escalated.
Recalling the frightening incident, Ban shared in a Monday Instagram post, "I had a bit of a headache but thought after lunch it would be fine and I could ski again."
Trusting her instincts, she sought out the ski patrol to get checked for a possible concussion. Although she was cleared by the patrol, a paramedic suggested going to the hospital for a CAT scan, which turned out to be a life-saving recommendation.
After being taken to the hospital by her husband, Jett Kain, Ban learned within 30 minutes that she had a brain bleed and needed to be airlifted to a trauma hospital. "Last thing I remember was being intubated and waking up after an emergency craniotomy with Jett by my side," Ban wrote, expressing her gratitude to the medical professionals who helped her.
The emergency craniotomy, which required part of her skull to be removed to alleviate brain pressure, proved to be vital. Ban, who had a portion of her head shaved and surgical staples inserted, shared graphic post-op images on social media. Her ordeal serves as a stark reminder of how quickly life can change. "And in a blink of an eye … life can change," she stated.
As a popular personality on Netflix's "Bling Empire: New York," Ban introduced viewers to the extravagant lifestyles of wealthy Asian Americans in New York City. The series, which debuted in January 2023, did not have a second season, and the original "Bling Empire" was canceled after three seasons.
Ban's recognition extends beyond reality TV; her eponymous jewelry line has adorned celebrities like Jennifer Lopez, Alicia Keys, and Billy Porter. Despite the unexpected hiatus, fans and colleagues showed immense support. "Omg lynn i have chills. so happy you are okay and have your incredible tribe by your side," Dorothy Wang, a co-star on the show, commented on her Instagram post.
While Ban acknowledges the long path to recovery ahead, she remains optimistic and grateful. "There's a long road of recovery ahead but I'm a survivor and grateful to ski patrol, the incredible team of doctors and nurses and the ❤️and support my family and friends," she concluded, counting her blessings as she enters the new year healed and hopeful.
