AceShowbiz - Josh Brolin, known for his roles as Cable, Thanos, and characters in "Dune" and "Men in Black 3", has a wealth of experience in geek movie culture. However, despite this familiarity, he faces a unique challenge when attending conventions: being confronted with unanswerable questions from passionate fans.
In a recent appearance on "The Graham Norton Show", Brolin discussed his experiences with fellow actor Michael Fassbender (Magneto in the "X-Men" franchise). Brolin described the intense scrutiny he encounters, with fans earnestly querying him about hypothetical scenarios within the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
"They're true fans, which is great. But then they'll come up and say, 'Did you ever realize that if you had the power to kill half the universe, you probably also had the power to create twice the resources?'" Brolin said. "And you're like, 'Next!' "
While Brolin acknowledges the fans' passion, he emphasizes that he does not write the material and cannot provide satisfying answers to such hypothetical questions. He also points out that Thanos's actions in "Avengers: Infinity War" and "Avengers: Endgame" reflect the character's own motivations and worldview.
Brolin's experiences echo those of [v=Ben Affleck], who famously questioned director Michael Bay's decision to train astronauts for an asteroid-mining mission in "Armageddon." Bay reportedly responded with a blunt "shut the f**k up."
Ultimately, Brolin advises convention-goers to refrain from asking unanswerable questions that may add stress to his interactions. Instead, they should express their appreciation for his work and move on.
