The story dates back to when Josh was raising two pigs, Oink and Snort. One evening at dinner, James revealed midway through the meal that they were eating one of the pigs Josh had helped raise.

Jane tragically passed away in a car accident in 1995, and James went on to marry Barbra Streisand in 1998. James also has two other children, Jess Brolin and Molly Brolin, with Jess being Josh's full sibling.
Despite the unsettling childhood experience, Josh praised his father as a role model in his life.
