AceShowbiz - Damon Wayans Jr. joined the cast of "Shrinking" in episode 4 of season 2 as "Derek 2.0," a love interest for Jessica Williams' character Gaby. The character's name, which is the same as Ted McGinley's character from season 1, has been a source of amusement for Williams.

Speaking exclusively with the New York Post, Williams commented, "That's stupid. It's really stupid!" However, she also expressed her admiration for Wayans Jr. and their on-screen chemistry. "He's the best. This season is a delight. He's also really funny and he's just like, 'What do you want to do? Let's do it. Let's do it, Let's go.'"

The new relationship was introduced after Gaby ended her friends with benefits situation with Jimmy (Jason Segel). Williams praised Segel as a scene partner, saying, "I love working with Jason. He's like my favorite person to work with. He's a very giving actor, very thoughtful actor. And he's just down to play."

Season 2 of "Shrinking" also brought on Brett Goldstein as Louis, the drunk driver in the accident that killed Jimmy's wife. Creator Bill Lawrence explained the significance of forgiveness in the season's storyline, stating, "There's no moving forward until you kind of get over that forgiveness hurdle. And I think sometimes people just go, that could be just like a daughter forgiving her father, for dropping the ball during the worst year of her life. But it's not always forgiving to someone else. Sometimes that means forgiving yourself."

The ensemble cast of "Shrinking," which includes Harrison Ford, Luke Tennie, Devin Kawaoka, Rachel Stubington and Wendie Malick, was a source of joy for Williams. She said, "It just feels like playing. And so any time I get to do that, even when our characters are arguing it's really fun to do. I feel like there's no no boundaries."

"Shrinking" has been renewed for a third season, with the season 2 finale airing on December 24.
