AceShowbiz - Elton John, the iconic "Rocket Man" hitmaker, recently opened up on "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert" about his cherished memories of raising his two sons, Zachary, 13, and Elijah, 11. Alongside his husband David Furnish, John enjoys a nightly ritual of singing and reading stories to their children.

"We sang them to bed. We read them stories every night, even when they couldn't understand what we were saying. It was a ritual that we held them," John revealed. He added, "[Lady GaGa], who's their godmother, used to come and bathe them and sing them to bed."

John's commitment to his family is evident in his reflections on legacy. Speaking to TIME as their Icon of the Year, he expressed his desire to be remembered not for his extraordinary music career, but for his role as a father. "On my gravestone, all I want it to say is, 'He was a great dad,' " John shared. "My music speaks for itself. My legacy is that I was a great husband and an even better father."

The 77-year-old singer also delighted fans by confirming new music is on the horizon, despite his ongoing eyesight issues. A severe eye infection has left him blind in one eye and with limited vision in the other, yet John remains creatively inspired. He assured fans on The Late Show, "You will be getting some more (music). The juices have never dried up. They never want to dry up because I'm always looking to create things."
