AceShowbiz - Brendan Paul, a former Syracuse University basketball player and associate of Sean "P. Diddy" Combs, has had all charges against him dropped after completing a pretrial diversion program. Paul was arrested in March at Miami-Opa Locka Executive Airport on charges of cocaine and marijuana possession, as authorities raided Combs' properties in Miami and Los Angeles.
As part of a plea deal struck in May, Paul entered the diversion program, which allowed him to avoid a criminal conviction. On Tuesday, December 17, Paul's attorney, Brian Bieber, confirmed that his client had completed the program, leading to the dismissal of all charges.
In a civil lawsuit filed by Combs' former producer Rodney "Lil Rod" Jones, Paul was accused of being Combs' "mule," who procured and distributed drugs and guns for the rapper. Jones claimed that Paul was also tasked with carrying Combs' firearm and arranging for workers for him.
Combs, who was arrested in September, is facing federal charges of trafficking, racketeering, and transportation to engage in prostitution. He has denied all allegations and remains behind bars at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, awaiting trial in May 2025. If convicted, Combs could face decades in prison.
Paul, after his March arrest, initially faced felony charges of cocaine and marijuana possession. However, prosecutors later decided to only pursue the cocaine charge. Paul's plea deal included completing the diversion program, which consisted of drug or substance abuse classes. He met all the requirements of the program, leading to the charges being dropped.
