AceShowbiz - More details of the altercation at Jamie Foxx's birthday dinner have surfaced online. According to a new report, the beef stemmed from a laser pointer projected onto his table from another table.
Multiple sources with direct knowledge tell TMZ in a report published on Monday, December 16 that the Oscar winner got upset during the night out at Mr. Chow's in Beverly Hills when someone from a private party in the upstairs VIP area pointed a laser at his table. The actor was dining with his family and he was upset because his kids were at the table.
The VIP room was rented out on Friday night, December 13 by a production company, which is owned and operated by Johnny Knoxville, Jeff Tremaine and Spike Jonze of "Jackass" fame. Earlier in the evening, the folks in the VIP room sent Jamie a drink, which he accepted but did not drink, because he's not consuming alcohol these days. The waiter told Jamie, "They are waving at you, wave back," and pointed him to the VIP section, where 12 guys were trying to get his attention.
Jamie's dinner guest says the table was confused by the folks from the VIP area laughing during this exchange, until they noticed the laser beaming down on their table. An upset Jamie reportedly exclaimed, "In front of my daughters?"
The 57-year-old and some of his friends then went up to the VIP area to ask the guys why they did it and things escalated to the point that a "Jackass Forever" crew member allegedly threw a thick drinking glass which ended up hitting Jamie in the face. The glass shard cut his mouth and he was bleeding. "It's my birthday, what is wrong with you?" he reportedly said before leaving the restaurant to get stitches.
A source from the "Jackass" crew claims Jamie had backup with him when he went upstairs and there was a tense and physical standoff between the parties. Attorney Bryan Freedman, who is representing the production company, says, "Although the crew has the greatest respect for Jamie, the version of events that has been presented is totally inaccurate and deeply unfair to those attending their holiday celebration that night."
After Jamie left, the party from the VIP area continued being aggressive with Jamie's friends, forcing Mr. Chow's staff to eventually call police. The "Django Unchained" star wasn't present when cops arrived, but he has since spoken to police about the incident.
Law enforcement sources confirm cops have heard that people from the "Jackass" production company were involved, but have not corroborated that info. Meanwhile, none of the "Jackass" stars were reportedly at the holiday party.
Following the incident, Jamie posted a cryptic message on Instagram that read, "The devil is busy... but I'm too blessed to be stressed." In the caption, he added, "The devil is a lie. Can't win here... thank you to everybody that pray and check on me… when your light is shining bright... they try to bring you darkness ... but they don't know that you're built for it... the lights have been shining bright..."
