AceShowbiz - Quentin Tarantino comes to the wrong side of "Yellowstone" fans. Fans of the popular Western drama blasted the famed director, who recently made dismissive comments on the series during his appearance on "The Joe Rogan Experience Podcast".
In the Tuesday, December 10 episode of the podcast, the "Pulp Fiction" creator called "Yellowstone" a little more than a "soap opera." Of the series, he said, "Everyone talks about how great television is now. It's pretty good, but it's still television to me."
"What's the difference between television and a good movie? Because a lot of the TV now has the patina of a movie. They're using cinematic language to get you caught up in it," Tarantino, who claimed to be a huge fan of star Kevin Costner, added. "Obviously, I'm talking about good shows… shows that you're compelled to watch," he continued, before citing the example of "Yellowstone".
The "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood" filmmaker said he "didn't get around to watching" the show "for the first three years." He divulged, "Then I watch the first season and I'm like, 'Wow, this is f**king great!' … And I got really caught up in the show and everything and all of a sudden I'm having a good time. You know, I've got a couple of seasons I haven't seen, so I'm watching it. And in the first season, I'm kind of talking, 'Oh, this is like a big movie.' "
"I'm caught up in it," Tarantino, who said that he watched 3 seasons of "Yellowstone" as well as its spin-off "1883", shared. He, however, noted, "But at the end of the day, it's all just a soap opera. They've introduced you to a bunch of characters, you actually kind of know all their backstories, you know everybody's connection with everybody else, and then everything is just the compellingness of the soap opera."
Upon catching wind of Tarantino's remarks, fans of the show quickly took to social media to express their rage and drag him. "Is there anything that man does like besides his own work?" one critic wrote on X, formerly Twitter. Meanwhile, another said, "'He also loves to hear himself talk."
