AceShowbiz - Eminem's half-brother, Nathan Kane Mathers, has reacted with mixed emotions to the passing of their mother, Debbie Nelson, on Tuesday, December 3. "Hatred and mixed emotions today," the 38-year-old DJ and music producer wrote on his Instagram Story.
Nelson, who died after a battle with lung cancer, had a tumultuous relationship with her sons, leading to estrangement and years of public feuding. At age eight, Nathan was placed into foster care, and Eminem later adopted him when he was 16.
Eminem, born Marshall Bruce Mathers III, hasn't yet publicly commented on his mother's death. Nathan's reaction follows the estranged relationship between Nelson, her sons, and Eminem, who has often used his music to express his anger towards his mother.
Nelson welcomed Nathan with Fred Samara Jr. about 14 years after she gave birth to Eminem during her relationship with Marshall Bruce Mathers, Jr. Eminem has spoken about his conflicted feelings towards his mother, rapping about wanting to reconcile with her on his 2013 song "Headlights."
Despite his apologies, it's unknown whether Eminem and Nelson had reconciled. In 2002, Eminem released "Cleanin' Out My Closet", a song in which he attacked his mother, branding her a "selfish b***h" and expressing his hope that she would "burn in hell."
Nathan's scathing response to his mother's death has drawn attention to the tumultuous relationship between Eminem, his half-brother, and their mother, who faced public lawsuits and insults throughout her life.
