Amidst excitement for the 'Wicked' movie adaptation, AMC Theaters has faced backlash after enforcing a policy prohibiting face paint and the film gets trigger warning in U.K.

AceShowbiz - AMC Theaters has sparked controversy by denying entry to patrons wearing face paint, including those attending the blockbuster musical "Wicked."

In one incident, two fans dressed as Elphaba and Glinda from the film were turned away from an AMC theater in Burbank, Calif. The theater's policy, which also applies to helmets and full masks, was implemented after the 2012 mass shooting during a screening of "The Dark Knight Rises" in Colorado.

Despite fans' disappointment, AMC maintains its policy for safety purposes, citing concerns about potential threats and the need for visibility to ensure the safety of patrons. According to their official guidelines, "Face paint, helmets and full masks or hoods that obscure the face are prohibited."

However, some movie goers have expressed confusion, as they have previously been allowed to wear face paint at AMC theaters for other films. One fan commented, "I watched joker with my face painted whatttt," one user commented, while another mentioned, "Me bright blue walking into amc for inside out 2…"

Starring Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo, "Wicked" also sparked debate across the pond after the movie was slapped by British Board of Film Classification with trigger warning about "a green-skinned woman is mocked, bullied and humiliated because of her skin colour."
