AceShowbiz - Garth Brooks put aside his legal issues to perform a mini-concert during the Monday, November 25, episode of "Jimmy Kimmel Live!". The country music star, 62, sang for fans at the free outdoor event, where he performed an upbeat cover of Nitty Gritty Dirt Band's "Fishin' in the Dark".
Before the performance, Brooks sat down with host Jimmy Kimmel and shared his family's holiday plans. He described his wife Trisha Yearwood as a "fantastic cook" who hosts a "misfit Thanksgiving" for people who are alone on the holiday.
Brooks also spoke about his Las Vegas residency, his musical beginnings and his experiences with his daughters.
However, Brooks' performance almost didn't happen. In October, a lawsuit was filed against Brooks by a former hairstylist and makeup artist who accused him of assault and battery. Brooks has denied the allegations.
Despite the allegations, ABC confirmed that Brooks' mini-concert was back on, sparking speculation that the cancellation may have been related to the lawsuit.
In the lawsuit, the plaintiff, identified as "Jane Roe," alleged that Brooks raped her during a 2019 work trip to Los Angeles. She also claimed that he sent her sexually explicit text messages and exposed himself to her.
Brooks has filed a motion to dismiss the lawsuit and has denied any wrongdoing. The case is ongoing.
Despite the ongoing legal proceedings, Brooks performed on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!". He has maintained his innocence and has expressed his disappointment that the allegations have overshadowed his positive deeds.
