AceShowbiz - The "Wicked" press tour has spawned countless viral moments, but none more so than when an Out magazine reporter told Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande that fans have been "holding space" with the lyrics of "Defying Gravity." The emotional response from Erivo, who plays Elphaba in the film adaptation, and Ariana Grane, who took on the role of Glinda, quickly went viral.
Now, Broadway stars Sutton Foster and Ana Gasteyer have joined in on the fun with a hilarious TikTok recreation of the moment.
In the TikTok, Foster, Gasteyer, and their "Once Upon a Mattress" co-star Michael Urie, recreate the scene backstage. Urie tells Foster and Gasteyer that fans are "holding space" with the lyrics of "Shy," the big musical number from their show.
Gasteyer then turns to Foster and asks, "Will you pull my finger?" referencing the moment Grande grabbed Erivo's fingernail during the original interview. As Foster grabs her hand, Gasteyer makes a farting sound, prompting the trio to burst into laughter.
Gasteyer captioned the video, "Holding space for all the shy girls today."
Despite the parody, the film adaptation of "Wicked" has dominated the box office and received rave reviews. Erivo and Grande are rumored for Oscar nominations. The second part of the film is set to hit theaters on November 21, 2025.
