In a sit-down with Kai Cenat, music producer Benny Blanco shares his heartwarming relationship journey from a decade-long friendship to a blossoming romance with Selena Gomez.

AceShowbiz - Selena Gomez's boyfriend, Benny Blanco, dished on how their relationship started, discussing their first date and the longstanding friendship that preceded it.

Appearing on Kai Cenat's Twitch stream, Blanco, whose real name is Benjamin Joseph Levin, recounted how Gomez made the first move by inviting him to dinner. Despite knowing each other for years, Blanco was unaware that she was attracted to him.

"She asked me out. It was crazy, it was crazy. She literally asked me... like we were just talking, and then she said, 'You wanna get dinner?'," he shared.

He explained that they first met when Gomez was significantly younger and had remained close friends for over a decade. The casual nature of their friendship led him to misinterpret the dinner invitation as a friendly hangout.

"I met her when she was so much younger," Blanco said. "We're close in age, but like we were just talking, and then she was like, 'Oh, let's go get dinner tomorrow.' … I didn't even realise we were on a date. And she was like, 'I would've worn something different to this date.' And I was like, 'Wait, what? We're on a date?' I had no idea."

Things went smoothly for the couple and their friendship quickly progressed into a romance. "She left early because she had to go somewhere to film a video the next day, and then we hung out like two days later, and then I was like, 'Yo, I think she likes me.' And then I literally just kissed her, and the rest is history."

Despite the initial misunderstanding, their connection was undeniable, and they began spending more time together. "Every day together, like as many days as we can, every day. She's my best friend. Actual best friend," Blanco gushed.

Selena Gomez also has always been supportive of her boyfriend. After he was featured in People Magazine's Sexiest Man Alive issue, which sparked controversy, the former Disney darling heaped praise on the producer, "I still haven't figured out how to sit across from you, and not be madly in love with everything you do."
