AceShowbiz - The title and teaser trailer for the upcoming "Mission: Impossible" movie have been unearthed. The eighth installment in the popular spy action franchise is officially called "Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning", suggesting that it may be Tom Cruise's final mission as Ethan Hunt.
The film was originally intended to be titled "Dead Reckoning Part Two" as a follow-up to 2023's "Dead Reckoning Part One." However, after the underwhelming box office performance of the seventh film, Paramount reportedly decided to market this as the "final" entry to boost audience interest despite Cruise's desire to continue making "Mission: Impossible" films into his 80s.
The teaser trailer features Cruise, 61, performing his signature death-defying stunts, including scuba diving, car chases, and a dangerous scene which sees the actor hanging for dear life on to an airplane. New cast members Hayley Atwell and Pom Klementieff join returning stars Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Vanessa Kirby, and Angela Bassett.
"The Final Reckoning" will pick up where "Dead Reckoning" left off, with Hunt and his team facing off against a rogue AI threatening geopolitical stability. The stakes are high as Ethan Hunt's decades-long conflict unfolds.
The film is scheduled to come out on May 23, 2025 with its budget reportedly ballooning to $400 million, making it one of the most expensive ever made.
