AceShowbiz - Armie Hammer is reportedly set to make his first screen appearance since 2021, when his career was derailed by allegations of abuse. The actor has booked a role in the Western film "Frontier Crucible", produced by Dallas Sonnier of "Bone Tomahawk".
The movie, which also stars Thomas Jane, Myles Clohessy, Eli Brown and Eddie Spears, marks Hammer's return to the Western genre following his role in 2013's "The Lone Ranger" opposite Johnny Depp. His last on-screen appearance was in 2022's "Death on the Nile", which was filmed before the allegations against him surfaced.
In early 2021, Hammer became embroiled in controversy after accusations emerged on social media that he had sent explicit messages to various women suggesting an interest in erotic cannibalism and violent kinks. Hammer denied the allegations and subsequently exited multiple acting projects, including the Jennifer Lopez rom-com "Shotgun Wedding".
He was also accused of raping a woman in 2017, a claim he denied, stating that the encounter was consensual. However, he later acknowledged that "the power dynamics were off" in the relationship. The Los Angeles Police Department investigated the allegations, but the L.A. County District Attorney's Office declined to file charges due to insufficient evidence.
Despite the allegations, Hammer has recently launched his own podcast and has hinted at a liking for the controversial image surrounding him. "I'm not gonna lie, I kinda like the cannibal stuff now," he said in an episode of his podcast.
Hammer's return to acting comes amidst his attempts to rebuild his career. He has expressed remorse for his past behavior and has sought treatment for drug and alcohol addiction. While the allegations against him remain unresolved, it remains to be seen whether the public will embrace his comeback.
