AceShowbiz - Thom Yorke has made it clear that he has no interest in discussing the possibility of a Radiohead reunion. In an interview with Australia's Double J, Yorke responded to questions about fans' speculation with indifference, "I am not aware of it and don't really give a flying fuck."
Yorke explained that Radiohead is not a priority for him at the moment, asserting that the band has "earned the right to do what makes sense to us" without external pressure. He added, "I don't think we feel the need to live up to anything. We are in a privileged position where we can still make music because of Radiohead."
Despite Yorke's dismissive stance, bassist Colin Greenwood recently revealed that the band held rehearsals over the summer. "We got together just to run through all the songs and picked up where we left off in 2018," he said. However, Yorke declined to comment further on the significance of these rehearsals.
Meanwhile, Yorke remains focused on his work with the Smile, a side project featuring Jonny Greenwood and Tom Skinner. The Smile have released three albums in less than three years, and Yorke credits the band's ability to create freely without the expectations associated with Radiohead.
However, Yorke emphasized that he is always working on music and does not consider the Smile's recent output to be particularly prolific. He also expressed gratitude for the ability to capture ideas quickly with producer Ben Petts-Davies.
When asked about the impact of recent rehearsals on Radiohead's collective approach, Yorke responded cryptically: "Yeeessss. I don't think I have anything to add to that."
Ultimately, Yorke's comments suggest that Radiohead fans should accept the current state of affairs and appreciate the music that Yorke and Greenwood are producing through the Smile.
