AceShowbiz - HBO host Bill Maher addressed an "open letter" to Gen Z singer Chappell Roan on Friday's "Real Time with Bill Maher" episode, reprimanding her for her stance on Israel.

Maher acknowledged Roan's success but dismissed her views on Israel as uninformed. He claimed she gets her information from TikTok propaganda and accused her of not knowing history.

The host suggested that young people are misled by social media and schools that don't teach history. He provided a brief history of Israel, noting that Jewish people lived there for millennia before it became a country.

Maher argued that Roan's LGBTQ lyrics would be met with hostility in Gaza, where she supports Palestinian rights. He also claimed she was mistaken about who was oppressing whom in the conflict, accusing Hamas of being a terrorist organization.

Despite acknowledging oppression of Palestinians and other Muslim populations, Maher asserted that Roan had it "completely backwards." He defended Israel's embrace of gay rights, while criticizing its continued attacks on Gaza, a strategy known as "pinkwashing."

Maher urged Roan and her followers to question information on social media and to seek out accurate historical accounts. He expressed concern that young people were not as affected by Jewish casualties as by Palestinian fatalities.

Roan has previously criticized the Democratic Party for supporting Israel's actions in Gaza and declined an invitation to the White House's Pride Celebration in protest. She later clarified that she would vote for Kamala Harris but not endorse her.
