In an emotional episode of the TLC reality show, the 53-year-old announces her decision to terminate her spiritual marriage through their church to Kody Brown.

AceShowbiz - During the October 13 episode of "Sister Wives, Meri Brown, 53, explained her reasons for pursuing a "release" from the marriage through their church. She stated that she had felt abandoned by Kody Brown, who had not responded to her text message about the process.

"It was a very, very hard conversation. ... This is not what I wanted to do. This is not what I intended when I married Kody," Meri said, emphasizing that marriage in their faith is meant to be "for eternity."

Despite their previous legal divorce in 2014, Meri insisted that the "spiritual ceiling" of their relationship had remained intact until this termination. "We are no longer married in any way, shape or form," she declared.

Meri revealed that the release was granted "on the grounds of abandonment," which she agreed with but believed Kody would not have appreciated. Kody, however, expressed relief at the news, stating, "It's sad. It's heartbreaking. But I am relieved that it's done."

He added that his primary concern had been his "reputation," which he believed would be damaged by a divorce.

Meri, meanwhile, looked forward to starting over. "I've got a lot of things ahead of me that I'm super excited about," she said.

"Sister Wives" airs on TLC Sundays at 10 P.M. ET.
