AceShowbiz - Nick Cannon stunned fans when he revealed on "The Breakfast Club" that he partied at Sean "P. Diddy" Combs' famous bashes as a mere 16-year-old. Cannon's reminiscence took listeners back to the late '90s, where Diddy's parties were the pinnacle of exclusivity and revelry.
"I live my truth," Cannon, 44, declared on the popular radio show. "I remember standing outside, you know, trying to get into a Puff party out here in New York. Everybody was." Recalling the iconic scene depicted in the Notorious B.I.G.'s "One More Chance" music video, Cannon described the authenticity of those moments.
Cannon noted how "Bad Boy parties were official in New York in the late '90s." Despite his young age, Cannon "was in there, Harlem shaking, doing all of that stuff," but he emphasized that he never engaged in substance use.
"I don't drink, I don't do drugs, so I was like, I don't know all of that. I'm in my life sober. I've never been drunk in my life," he asserted, adding that he has "nothing to hide" regarding his party-going past.
Cannon's candid revelations come amid serious allegations against Diddy, who faces over 120 lawsuits involving charges of sex trafficking, racketeering conspiracy, and more. Diddy, currently detained in Brooklyn's Metropolitan Detention Center without bail, awaits his trial set for May 2025. These charges have sent shockwaves through the music industry, with claims that some high-profile individuals are implicated.
Despite the gravity of Diddy's legal situation, Cannon appeared unfazed about his own attendance at Diddy's gatherings, drawing a distinct line between the innocent fun he experienced and the "freak-offs" now under scrutiny.
"Everybody gets scared to talk because they probably got something to hide. I ain't got nothing to hide," Cannon reiterated, dismissing the notion that everyone at Diddy's parties partook in illicit behavior.
Cannon's memories contrasted sharply with Diddy's dire circumstances. The disgraced music mogul appeared in a court hearing on Thursday, October 10 and will return for a trial on May 5, 2025. Among his alleged victims is a 9-year-old boy.
One of Diddy's lawyers, Erica Wolff, emphasized that the music mogul "looks forward to proving his innocence and vindicating himself in court." Another lawyer, Anthony Ricco, compared Diddy's plight to that of civil rights leaders, reflecting an ongoing defense strategy.
Nick Cannon's recollections bridge a past of youthful exuberance with the stark realities of current controversies, providing a thought-provoking lens on an era remembered for its groundbreaking music and fleeting moments of grandeur. How the stories of those nights will impact the present remains to be seen as the trial unfolds.
