AceShowbiz - In a recent episode of the "No Ordinary Podcast," DDG offered some candid advice to his younger self about balancing relationships and personal growth. Speaking to fellow streamer Jay Cinco, DDG revealed that his younger self, at 22, should have stayed single longer to focus on his career and personal development.
"It's best for you to be single in these years of your life so you can really grind. Ain't nobody going nowhere...unless a girl get a new n***a or something…whoever you like in this moment, but get your ducks in a row first and grind and not have no restrictions," he said.
DDG elaborated on the challenges a relationship can pose, suggesting it equates to a part-time job. "You gotta always consider their feelings, so it's like you can't really work how you wanna work, and if I can tell myself something at age 22, I would tell myself not to get into a relationship because it's damn near like having a part-time job. You really have to apply a lot of time and effort," he added.
The streamer mentioned that these relationship constraints can even spill over into content production, impacting one's career.
DDG's comments came after he publicly announced his breakup with Halle Bailey on Instagram Stories on October 3. DDG assured fans that they remain "best friends and adore each other," intending to focus individually while co-parenting their infant son, Halo.
"After much reflection and heartfelt conversations, Halle and I have decided to go our separate ways. This decision was not easy, but we believe it's the best path for both of us," DDG wrote.
Despite these proclamations, not everyone is happy. Joe Budden, another prominent podcaster, shared his thoughts on the split, calling DDG's public attachment to Bailey "clout-chasing." DDG retaliated on social media, firing back at Budden's comments and leveraging Budden's age in his critiques.
Fans have mixed feelings about DDG's claims that a relationship can be akin to a "part-time job." Some have questioned how he can overlook the responsibilities that come with fatherhood while framing relationships as intense commitments. While Bailey remains silent on the matter, DDG's advice and the buzz surrounding their breakup provide much food for thought for young individuals navigating the complexities of relationships and career ambitions.
