AceShowbiz - Despite facing a sexual assault lawsuit, country star Garth Brooks performed to a sold-out crowd on Thursday, October 3 in the midst of his residency at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas.
Brooks, 62, shared an emotional Instagram post after the performance, "If there was ever a night that I really needed this, TONIGHT was that night! Thank you for my life!!!!! Love, g."
Earlier that day, a woman, who claimed to be his hairstylist and makeup artist, using the pseudonym "Jane Roe" filed a lawsuit in a California court, accusing Brooks of raping her in a hotel room in 2019, along with repeated sexual harassment and exposure.
Brooks' attorneys maintain his innocence, claiming that the allegations are an extortion attempt. In a previous preemptive complaint filed by Brooks under the name "John Doe," he accused Roe's legal representation of threatening him with false allegations following a declined request for employment and benefits.
Roe's attorneys, Douglas H. Wigdor, Jeanne M. Christensen, and Hayley Baker, said in a statement, "We are confident that Brooks will be held accountable for his actions. We applaud our client's courage in moving forward with her complaint."
Brooks responded in a statement through his publicist, denying the allegations and condemning extortion, "I have been hassled to no end with threats, lies, and tragic tales of what my future would be if I did not write a check for many millions of dollars."
He added, "Hush money, no matter how much or how little, is still hush money. In my mind, that means I am admitting to behavior I am incapable of."
Brooks emphasized his focus on his career and doing good deeds, expressing heartbreak over his questioned integrity. "I trust the system, I do not fear the truth, and I am not the man they have painted me to be."
