AceShowbiz - Etty Lau Farrell, wife of Jane's Addiction frontman Perry Farrell, recently shared an update on her husband following a dramatic onstage incident with guitarist Dave Navarro during a concert.
In an Instagram post on Saturday, September 21, Etty Lau revealed that Perry, 65, is taking time to "reflect and heal" and is seeing an otolaryngologist and neurologist. This comes after the band's tour was canceled following Perry's public outburst onstage towards Navarro, 57, on September 13.
Etty Lau expressed her gratitude for the overwhelming support they have received, thanking fans for "checking in over and over again to make sure we are well taken care of. Offering love and compassion… and even your homes for us to escape to."
She described Perry as "the gentlest of souls" and acknowledged that both she and Perry are "equally astonished" by his physical outburst. "But you must know that Perry must have been pushed to his absolute limit… to that end, we apologize," she added.
In her post, Etty Lau emphasized that they are taking a bit of time to reflect and heal. She mentioned that Perry already has appointments with an otolaryngologist, who treats conditions affecting the ears, nose, and throat, and a neurologist, who treats conditions in the brain and nervous system.
She reassured fans that, with their love, kindness, compassion, and support, Perry will persevere. "He will recover. He will be happy again. He will once again be able to share his music, vision, and artistry - unbridled," she claimed.
Perry Farrell threw a punch at guitarist Dave Navarro onstage on September 13. Following the incident, which was met with shock by fans, Jane's Addiction issued a "heartfelt apology" and announced the early end of their tour.
In a statement, the band explained, "To all the fans, the band have made the difficult decision to take some time away as a group. As such, they will be canceling the remainder of the tour." Perry was not directly acknowledged in the message.
On his Instagram Stories, Perry reflected on his actions and issued an apology. "This weekend has been incredibly difficult and after having the time and space to reflect, it is only right that I apologize to my bandmates, especially Dave Navarro, fans, family, and friends for my actions during Friday's show," he wrote. "Unfortunately, my breaking point resulted in inexcusable behavior, and I take full accountability for how I chose to handle the situation."
As fans await further updates, there is optimism that Perry Farrell will make a strong recovery and return to the stage, bringing his unique artistic vision and music back to his audience.
