AceShowbiz - Netflix has granted a straight-to-series order for "Thumblite," a corporate thriller set in Silicon Valley. Rosamund Pike ("Gone Girl") will lead the cast, alongside an ensemble that has yet to be announced.
The series, created, written, and directed by Scott Z. Burns ("The Report," "Contagion"), examines the schemes, rivalries, and obsessions of the power brokers and their underlings who vie for control of the tech industry. Pike will also executive produce alongside Burns, Scott Galloway, Greg Jacobs, Michael Ellenberg, and Lindsey Springer.
Pike is known for her roles in films such as "Gone Girl," "Die Another Day," and "Pride & Prejudice," as well as TV shows including "The Wheel of Time" and "Saltburn." Burns has a track record of tackling major world issues in his films, including "The Informant!," "Side Effects," and "The Laundromat." He recently created the Apple TV+ climate change anthology series "Extrapolations."
Galloway is a renowned entrepreneur, public speaker, and professor at NYU's Stern School of Business. Media Res, the production company behind "Thumblite," has a strong track record on streaming platforms, with shows such as "The Morning Show" and "Pachinko" on Apple TV+ and "Scenes from a Marriage" on HBO.
"Thumblite" is part of Netflix's expanding slate of original series, including the recently announced "Midnight Sun," an animated adaptation of Stephenie Meyer's "Twilight" novel from the perspective of Edward Cullen.
