AceShowbiz - Despite the summer box office cooling down, "Deadpool & Wolverine" remains a strong force. The third installment in the Deadpool saga has earned an estimated $15.2 million over the first three days of the Labor Day weekend, bringing its domestic tally to $603.8 million and its global total to $1.25 billion.

Trailing behind is "Alien: Romulus", which added $9.3 million to its domestic total. The seventh installment in the "Alien" franchise has also performed well internationally, earning a total of $283 million.

Other films in the top 5 include "It Ends With Us", "Reagan" and "Twisters", which all maintained their positions from last week. "Reagan", a biopic on former President Ronald Reagan, made a strong debut with $7.4 million.

Among new releases, "Afraid", a thriller about a family whose AI smart-home device turns against them, opened to an estimated $3.7 million domestically.

The summer season has officially ended with "Deadpool & Wolverine" as the second highest-grossing movie of the year behind "Inside Out 2". The sequel's success is expected to pave the way for more R-Rated MCU movies and future appearances from Deadpool and Wolverine.
